ত্বকের টিউমার, ক্যান্সার ও আলসার সার্জারি

Removal of skin lumps, skin cancers and chronic ulcers with reconstruction designed to leave the least noticeable scar.

Medical review in progress — patient information, not a substitute for a consultation.

Overview

Skin lumps, moles that change, non-healing ulcers and skin cancers are removed and sent for laboratory examination. Plastic surgical closure — direct repair, a local flap or a skin graft — is chosen to fit the site, particularly on the face.

What it addresses

  • Moles or lumps that grow, bleed or change colour
  • Ulcers that do not heal, including in old burn scars
  • Basal cell, squamous cell and other skin cancers

Who may be a candidate

  • Anyone with a skin lesion that is changing or not healing — have it checked early

Treatment options

  1. 01Excision with direct closure
  2. 02Local flap reconstruction
  3. 03Skin grafting
  4. 04Biopsy for diagnosis

Benefits & limitations

  • Complete removal with a planned scar
  • Further treatment may be needed depending on the laboratory report

Every patient is different. Results vary and no outcome can be guaranteed; your surgeon will discuss what is realistic for you.

Consultation & assessment

At Central Hospital, Dhanmondi, Dr. Masum takes a full history, examines the area of concern and — only with your permission — takes clinical photographs for your file. He explains which options suit you, including non-surgical ones where they are appropriate, together with the expected recovery, possible risks and the cost, so that you can decide without pressure.

Please bring previous prescriptions, investigation reports and a list of the medicines you take.

Preparing for surgery

  1. 1Tell the surgeon about diabetes, high blood pressure, heart or kidney disease and any allergies.
  2. 2Mention blood thinners, aspirin or herbal supplements — some may need to be paused only on medical advice.
  3. 3Stop smoking well before surgery; it slows wound healing.
  4. 4Follow the fasting and medicine instructions you are given for the day of surgery.
  5. 5Arrange for a family member to accompany you and help at home for the first days.

The procedure

Most small lesions are removed under local anaesthesia as a day procedure. The specimen is sent for histopathology and the wound closed in the way that best suits the site.

Recovery & aftercare

Keep the wound clean and dry as instructed; stitches are removed in about a week on the face and later elsewhere. Your report will be discussed at follow-up.

Possible risks

  • Need for wider excision if margins are not clear
  • Bleeding or a collection of blood under the skin (haematoma)
  • Infection
  • Delayed wound healing or wound breakdown
  • Scarring that is more noticeable than expected
  • Risks related to anaesthesia
