Guide
Patient information
What to bring, how to prepare, and how to look after yourself afterwards.
Before your visit
- Call the hotline 01556-304153 for a serial at Central Hospital, Dhanmondi (Saturday–Thursday, 3–6 pm).
- Bring earlier prescriptions, investigation reports, discharge papers and a list of medicines.
- Write down your questions — about options, recovery time, risks and cost.
Preparing for surgery
- Tell the surgeon about diabetes, blood pressure, heart or kidney disease, allergies and any blood thinners.
- Stop smoking well before surgery; it slows healing.
- Follow fasting instructions exactly; arrange for someone to accompany you.
Recovery & aftercare
- Keep dressings clean and dry and attend every dressing and review visit.
- Take medicines exactly as prescribed.
- Scars mature over 12–18 months: protect them from sun, massage and use silicone or pressure garments when advised.
- Seek help urgently for fever, increasing pain, redness, swelling, discharge or bleeding.
Photographs and consent
Clinical photographs are taken only with your permission and kept in your file. They are never published without separate written consent.
